Winter in Lofoten
Winter in Lofoten is long and snowy, but heavily influenced by the Gulf Stream. This means a maritime climate and rapid weather changes. Off the roads, fresh snow is often waist-deep, while hillsides or coastlines can sometimes turn into sheer ice. This mix is exactly why we use snowshoes. I exclusively use high-quality models with steel crampons. They provide a secure grip on ice and save you a lot of energy in deep snow.
I have been working as a ski instructor and hiking guide in Northern Norway since 2024.
With a background in geophysics, I don't just know the routes; I assess the weather and avalanche risks daily.
We avoid steep terrain and focus on safe trails.
Note: These tours primarily take place during the day.
If conditions are right in the late afternoon, clear skies offer a good chance to see the northern lights.
Snowshoes, poles, and a brief introduction are included in all tours.
